Rainbow Samuel-de-Champlain Bridge, Montreal, Canada

Andrew Moore Apr 19, 2020

The new Samuel-de-Champlain Bridge opened to traffic on June 28, 2019. Built to replace the aging and decrepit Champlain Bridge, the opening was a welcome event for the residents of the South Shore of Montreal who had been dealing with emergency closures for years.

The new bridge features a 168 meters high concrete tower, and an 3,400 meters long span. Both are equipped with LED lighting which can be quite a sight during special events.

In this occasion, the bridge was illuminated with the colors of the rainbow to celebrate healthcare workers who were dealing with a difficult first wave of COVID-19 cases in Quebec.
